Saturday concert in Waimea canceled
The Saturday concert by Ohrlando’s Chamber Ensemble at the Kahilu Theatre in Waimea has been canceled, according to the organizers.
Royal Ballet screening slated Monday
The Live in HD series at Makalapua Cinemas presented by Regal Cinema and Hoku Concert Series continues with the Royal Ballet’s “Giselle,” a tale of betrayal and enduring love. The screening is set for 7 p.m. Monday.

Art show slated in Honaunau
The West Hawaii Artists Tribe will present an exhibition of sculptures, paintings, prints and photography from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Society for Kona’s Education and Art building, located between mile markers 105 and 106 in Honaunau. The event features pupu, music, a silent auction and a pottery and art sale.

Makana performing two West Hawaii concerts
Makana will perform at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Aloha Theatre in Kainaliu and at 7 p.m. Jan. 31 at the Kahilu Theatre in Waimea. He will perform songs from his new CD, “RIPE,” at these West Hawaii concerts.
Makana, an internationally acclaimed guitarist, singer and composer, is known for lending his musical talent for social change. His guitar playing has been featured on three Grammy-nominated albums, including the soundtrack for “The Descendants.”
Makana’s blend of Hawaiian, folk and rock influences and the passion and energy of his performance engages his audience like few entertainers on the scene. He has performed worldwide in venues including Tianjin Opera House, Bumbershoot in Seattle, WOMAD in England and The White House. Makana has shared the stage with Jason Mraz and Jack Johnson, Sting, Carlos Santana and Elvis Costello.
Tickets for the Kainaliu show are $30, $25 for students and seniors, and available in advance from alohatheatre.com or at Kiernan Music. Tickets at the door are $35.
